Nation of hypocites

Yes I really think so... we are nothing but a nation of perverts.

For proof look at Gujarat. Art students ending up in jail for painting nude images of women and 'hurting' religious sentiments. MF Hussain, probably the greatest most successful pianter modern India has, is on the run for desecrating images of goddess Saraswati by painting her in the nude.

Before even thinking of 'punishing' poor Chandramohan or MF Hussain, have these self appointed guardians of our morality looked around them, or looked at their own history. Looking at the way they are reacting, I don't think most of them have even seen a temple, otherwise they would have certainly seen nude images of gods and goddesses in temples across the nation, some of them dating back to ancient times.

Instead of attacking these poor artists or galleries, why don't they tear down these temples, blacken the images or renounce the ancient kings and artists who drew them.

The very same people will probably not even bother to protest against some disgusting programmes and advertisements on television. Under the name of Lord Balaji, Ekta Kapur propagates all sorts of immoralities in her K serials. I am yet to come across a woman who marries 4 people in 6 months, sleeps with half a dozen others, plot the deaths of a few others an still be the epitome of 'Bhartiya Nari'. Do you see Bajrang Dal activists tearing down her office? Has anyone yet protested or ransacked the Amul hosiery for releasing what is perhaps the most disgusting ad ever seen on Indian television? Why doesn't the government ban this ad, instead of taking AXN off air for a few months for broadcasting a programme called the 'World's Sexiest Commercials'.

And if you still need proof of the fact that we are nation of hypocrites and perverts, just see the comments below the video.

Exactly... hypocrisy seems to be the trend nowadays... not only in these but everywhere. For example, we treat sex as taboo but manage to churn out flocks of children to add to the bloomin' population.

You could write about the advertisement to the The Advertising Standards Council of India at: http://www.ascionline.org/

Well said Shanx! That has got to be the most grotesque ad I've ever seen. Complete double standards in our country unfortunately.

Excellent post (and my first comment!) I think your complain should be against the "culture of banning" instead. Hypocrisy is an offshoot of a culture where independence of ideas or expression is inhibited. So, for someone else, the Amul ad might be ok, while you are biased against it. India has become a wilted culture fighting on all the wrong issues because of society (or any random group of people) considering itself above personal freedom of thought.

WDM2 - So true, the problem is not with sex, but the way it is presented to us. It is a different matter that there are morons out there who complain against sex education too.

Siddhusaheb - I know, but that's another lame duck

Bharat - The ad shows what's wrong with our mindset. It just presents sex as something for the perverted.

Pranjal - My only issue with this ad and others is way sex is projected. We cannot be a regressive society like the one Shiv Sena would want us to be and at the same time let these things pass on to the unsuspecting viewer. What are we trying to say at the end of the day?

My dear friend forgot that hypocrisy do prevail in the example he had given too, MFHusain has never painted naked painting of his mother or devil f***ing his sister. Why there is double standard? Where were all those so called socialites when Gujarat was flooding or burning in a communal rights? People like medha patkar, amirkhan always have double standards. List can go on forever may be including Nomad.......

parimal - i don't understand what you're trying to say? where did i say that MF Hussain did something wrong?

nomad........So called cheap modern days painter like a mfhusain or chanrdamohan were always wrong. what ever they do just to get cheap publicity. They always maintained double standard in what ever they do. Who else is opposing them have all the rights to oppose or punish. not just mfhusain or chandramohand but amirkhan, javed akhtar, shabana azami........almost in every field you will find those kind of idiots. Chandamohan or MF Husain was never poor nor they deserve sympathy.

parimal - what is your point in the end? i still don't get it? anyways thanks for visiting.

why do you think mfhusain or chandramohan are poor?

parimal - i don't see any further m,erit in discussing the issue. i had a point i made it. but seem to be making issues out of thin air - where did i say MF hussain was poor? i said he was successful - read rich.

as far as i am concerned i don't think you even understand the issue. you are merely blowing hot gas and i am sorry i don't have time for it.
