The Buddha

One of his students asked Buddha, "Are you the messiah?"
"No", answered Buddha.
"Then are you a healer?"
"No", Buddha replied.
"Then are you a teacher?" the student persisted.
"No, I am not a teacher."
"Then what are you?" asked the student, exasperated.
"I am awake", Buddha replied.

Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning,

On an ever spinning wheel
As the images unwind
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Lord of all he surveys

On a trip to Eravikulam National Park near Munnar in Kerala, I came across this Nilgiri Tahr. The tahr is one of the most endangered animals in India. Their population had gone down to just 100 at the beginning of the 20th century. However, now they are 2000 strong and roam all over the Nilgiri hills. This particular one though - looked like the lord of all that he surveyed.

What an amazing beginning to my photo-blogging career: Last night while driving home, me and C came across this spectacular pair - the Crescent Moon and the Venus in a rare celestial event called the "Lunar occultation of the Venus". It'll be another 30 years before I can take another photo like this.
