he too played a hand

While the entire cricketing world goes gaga over the exploits of messers Sachin, Yuvraj & Sehwag in the recently concluded first test against England - one chap who played an equally important role in this historic victory seems to have been lost in the euphoria.

Gautam Gambhir was the man who steadied the innings after Viru fell after his blazing start. It was Gambhir to held fort after Rahul Dravid fell cheaply. A look at the scorecard tells that Gambhir for the steadying force in the first half of the Indian innings and fell only when nearly half the required runs had been scored.

Gambhir over the past year or so has performed remarkably well for India and in all forms of the game, be it Twenty-20, ODIs and now Test match cricket. He has been one of most consistent performers and yet not much has been written about his contribution.

But never mind buddy, there are those who see the value of your contribution and doff their hat to you. Not only that, they also feel proud that you studied in the same school as they did and still feel as nice to see your name in the papers as they saw it in Sandesh. Keep scoring Modernite... keep scoring
