It's late in the evening; and I'm wondering what to drink
I open my bar now and I search for the familiar stink
And then he asks me, "Am I the one for the night?"
And I say, "Yes, you'll be just perfect tonight."
We go to a party and everyone turns to see
This fat old man that's walking around with me.
And then they ask me, "Do you feel all right?"
And I say, "Yes, this feels wonderful tonight."
I feel wonderful because I see
The buzz shine in your eyes.
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize (how much I love you.)
It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head,
So I give him the car keys and he helps me to bed.
And then I tell him, as I turn out the light,
I say, "My darling, you were wonderful tonight.
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight."

Black
Darkness falls as the wind picks up, winding its way through the broken windows.
Memories in faded ink on yellow paper get rustled...
The empty cans of beer in the corner clatter about, stirring the crumpled man on the floor...
There is no light, there never was, just a black winter night...
The throbbing pain in his head needs some balm,
He gets up... falls, tries again to no avail... it's just beyond him now
So he lies there, waiting for the morrow or the next
Maybe someone will come, maybe just...

The Guardian
In the time it takes for you to get from Delhi to Bombay in a train, more than 5,000 railwaymen have ensured that the tracks are clear and fit to operate, gates are closed and signals working properly. You barely register their faces as they pass by in a blur. Probably you'd recognise them just by the green flags they wave, signifying a safe passage for you and your loved ones.
Jaswant Singh is one such green flag without a face... but he is your guardian, like many of his brethren. Spare them a thought.
